Movies I Watched In 2015

I found the time and chance to watch so many movies in 2015. Some were first time watches while others I was watching for the second time (and some for the hundredth time!). It was overall a great year in movies! Here's a look back at all the good, bad, and ugly movies 2015 brought my way.

First Time Watches!
When 2015 began we'd been vacationing at Universal Orlando Resort and Abbie and I had taken a movie-bestie day one morning to watch the newly released The Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies. Azog the Defiler scared the living daylights out of me, raising the hair on my neck! I was so happy when he died that I resisted the urge to stand up and clap in the movie theater.

Around the time when 2015 began I finally watched the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. On Stranger Tides, Dead Man's Chest, and The Curse of the Black Pearl were the movies we chose for our road trip. Just one word: JohnnyOMGDepp.

This year I finally gave Arjun Kapoor a chance. But no, my verdict did not change. He is a loser who probably wouldn't have been in the industry had he not had a Bollywood family background and Salman Khan as a mentor. The movie was okay though, Alia Bhatt was fine too. What kept my interest was the way the whole Desi stereotyping was portrayed. It was brutally true and that was what was the best part about this movie. It was a great story and a great plot and I felt the makers underutilized the opportunity to create something awesome.

Dhoom 3 had been on my list of 'Want to Watch' movies since quite some time and when it finally premiered on television I set it to record immediately. As expected it was a brilliant watch. Aamir Khan was excellent in his double role and I wanted to love and hate his character at the same time. Even though I do not like the entire Bachan household, Abhishek Bachan has recently gained some of my favor and watching him as a cop was really great too. The story was very interesting and had me jumping in my sofa seat from time to time. Loved the suspense and I'd totally watch it again if I ever found it showing on television sometime.

Haider had been achieving sweeping victories in all award functions and I'd been wanting to watch it so bad. Finally television premiere *aaahh ahhhhhhhhhhhh* and I set it to record on my DVR. The channel decided to censor out some of the classic violent scenes and I wasn't complaining at all. The movie was a really good watch though. Shahid Kapoor really played a lunatic so well, he actually deserved all the awards he won in true meaning. I didn't know he had it in him to act in such an eccentric role but he was brilliant!

Not surprisingly I absolutely loved this extremely adorable Disney movie. Tangled was everything that a Disney movie is; the handsome guy, the adorably powerful female lead, the dreamy plot, and a happy ending. I loved Tangled! It was one of my favorite movies of the year!

This one too I'd been waiting to watch. More than me, Abbie had been eagerly waiting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan, being the bigger Salman Khan fan among us. The movie was fantastic! I usually find that Salman Khan picks up weaker scripts and makes them awesome with his awesome self, but this time the script was a beautiful story. This was a really emotional movie and a hilarious one too! Loved this.

Even though technically I'd seen The Mortal Instruments - City of Bones before I still think it was the first time I was watching it. The first time I'd seen it was in a theater where I was too busy making fun of Jace being underweight for a warrior's role with Abbie's friend. Additionally, I was totally unaware of the story. This year I officially became a Shadowhunter lover as I began reading the books. When I saw the movie again it was completely new! I was so annoyed at how much they changed the story and how much of a potential they had which went underutilized. I'm glad they're making a TV show out of these books instead!

I guess this year I gave a lot of stupid idiots a chance to impress me and change my opinions. Also, I'd add that they failed miserably, just as I'd expected. I gave Fawad Khan a chance when I decided to watch this Bollywood Disney movie. Bollywood and Disney are two favorites and a combination sounded very exciting. It was too; the story was excellent, the movie was brilliant, Sonam Kapoor was fabulous, the entire time I laughed like a mental baboon ... Fawad Khan was a total flop. The end.

Piku was the most hilarious and scarily real fiction movie ever! If there is a movie I could understand clearly, it was this one. I'm not a fan of Deepika but her frustrated acting was spot on. Irfan Khan left me speechless with how real his acting was and Amitabh Bachan was excellent as the annoying old man. BRILLIANT MOVIE!

Brothers was the one movie that proved to me that I shouldn't judge a movie by stupid people's opinions. This was an emotional one and made me cry so bad. Find my review here (because it compelled me into writing a review!). This is a must watch!

Of course I'm one of those rare people (or maybe the ONLY person on earth) who don't watch movies when their hype is at its most. I finally watched Armageddon (on special recommendation from Abbie) and I loved it. It was another movie that had me pinching the cushion in my lap really hard because I was dying of emotion and suspense. Great one!

Second Time and Hundredth Time Watches!

This year I revisited my childhood through all the Disney movies we used to watch when we were kids. I used to understand nothing and Abbie used to translate and explain everything to me. It was time I watched all the classics again to be able to enjoy them. Disney is LOVE LOVE LOVE! Cinderella is my favorite because of Gus Gus! *laughs*

I watched Freaky Friday again this year. Lindsay was as usual not my favorite but the mom in the movie was classic! The movie was fun but I realized the whole craze over Chad was sooooooooooo unnecessary. He isn't even nice *laughs*!

LOVEEEEEEEEEEE HILARY DUFF! It was so much fun watching Lizzie's adventures and Paolo's loser self again!

Another one of my most favorite movies and of course Hilary Duff. She's the bestttttttttt! I enjoyed watching this one again this year. And repeat what I said about Chad!!! Sooooo not cool that guy.

Baaaaaahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
This may have been a super emotional drama when it was released, but today it has become such a hilarious movie. So much over acting and such idiotic things happening everywhere. Watching this for the hundredth time was so funny!

Hook was another one of those childhood memories I revisited and for a change understood this time round. It was a great movie and unlike when I was a child, this time I enjoyed it a lot!

Ah, another Bollywood classic I watched again this year. This one too has become so funny over the years! Shahrukh Khan is the best though!

Abbie celebrated the #6wkMMM - The 6 Week Middle Earth Movie Marathon and we had a great time watching An Unexpected Journey and Desolation of Smaug again. Note: Azog scares the poop out of me!

Mujhse Shaadi Karogi was another old Bollywood movie Abbie and I watched all over again. This one was like watching it for the first time. It was entertaining, hilarious, and a great Bestie Time movie!

The year in movies wouldn't have been complete without this timeless classic. DDLJ is the best thing to happen to Bollywood. Shahrukh Khan is the best thing to happen to Bollywood. Here's to watching DDLJ a thousand times more in future!

  1. Love your movies, Sara, especially the diversity. I've watched a few clips from Bollywood movies but never one from start to finish. Also, I seldom get to watch movies when they're in the theaters; usually I have to wait until they're on DVD and at my local library, although I recently discovered Red Box. :-)

Here's hoping 2016 will bring more awesome movies!

    1. Hey Suzanne,
      Thanks for the lovely comment.
Which Bollywood movie have you seen clips from, would you remember? :)
I hardly, if ever, watch movies in theaters too. I usually wait until they show up on television. This year was lucky for me in that regard because a lot of the latest Bolywood movies were such a hit that they had their TV premieres almost a few months after their initial release. So I got lucky!
How is Red Box? Abbie and I have been wanting to try it since some time but we still haven't had a chance.
