New Year's Holly Jolly Cupcakes

The start of a New Year is the perfect excuse for baking up gorjabulous cupcakes. You know what else is a good excuse? ... EVERYTHING! Who needs excuses for cakes right? (My ever expanding belly will beg to differ though!) *sighs*

These gorgeous cupcakes marked the beginning of the year 2014 in my life. These were extremely special in various ways to me. Firstly, it was a new year, THE year I was going to graduate with shining medals and excellent grades. Oh and secondly, this was my first ever themed cupcake box. I had decided to take these for some lovely ladies at mama's chiropractor's clinic as a thank you for being so lovely and caring for her and just some random cupcakes weren't going to do it for me ... I actually planned five designs that were New Year themed! I chose the colors red, green, white, and gold for the Holly Jolly Cupcakes because it was very New Year-ish to me. Let me show off some close ups of each design!

My first design was a snowman! An adorable, happy, cute snowman. Winters are one of my favorite parts of the New Year and a snowman celebrated just that! My snowman was hand piped out of candy and decorated with sprinkles. It looked super cute. I decided to do a glittery green base for the snowman to add that New Year celebration glitz to this design.

These beautiful mini wreaths were even better than floral arrangements taken as gifts. REALLY! I frosted the base of the cupcake white and then decorated the wreath with green frosting, red pearls, and a red bow hand piped out of candy melts and embellished with a gold pearl in the center. It looked so pretty!

Next came the snow flakes! Glitters and reds and greens were the glitzy parts of these hand piped candy snow flakes!

Peppermints were EVERYWHERE in stores around New Year's time and they inspired this design out of my head. These weren't actual peppermint candies but red and white candy melts marbled and cut up into bark sized pieces. Of course red sugar crystals and gold pearls glitz-ed it up!

This one was such a favorite of mine. The cupcake box had only one of this design and it was beautiful. The idea was to create a sort of pathway leading up to 2014! Oh and the pathway was scattered with confetti that marked the celebration of the new year!

This pretty snowman and cupcake stayed with us at home! It was the cupcake Abbie and I split into two to taste test and perfect! I loved the look of my snowmen standing but their height wouldn't have fit safely in the cupcake box so this one couldn't go along. I placed a candy heart sprinkled with red sugar crystals on this cupcake too, just as that extra touch to wish Abbie a Happy New Year!

The cupcakes didn't just look pretty. They were SUPER delicious too!
I baked funfetti cupcakes with white chocolate chips!
Aaaaaaaah ... drooling!!!

AND NOW APPLAUSE PLEASE!
PRESENTINGGGGGGG!
THE GORGEOUS!
THE AWESOME!
MY FIRST EVER THEMED CUPCAKE BOX!

Doesn't that look beautiful!?

Mama tied that gorgeous bow, because to this day even after five years of baking and decorating creative master pieces I still can't tie bows that perfect! *laughs*
But hey hey, my cupcakes look gorgeous. They look perfect!
That's all that counts!
