Butterbeer ~ Magic in a Mug

It is always a long walk through Universal Orlando, whether you're headed to Hogsmeade through Islands of Adventure or Diagon Alley through Universal Studios. The place is always bustling with crazy tourists, eagerly heading to their favorite areas of the park. It can often be tiring, especially if you're travelling in a warmer weather. After our long walks to the Harry Potter parks, Abbie and I always found ourselves longing for a drink. Of course in a place full of magic you can't just find the ordinary non magical Coke or other sodas, that is so for Muggles (rolls eyes)!

This entry belongs to the Bestie Times label

A major highlight and must-try at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the Butterbeer! Butterbeer is available in three options: there is the cold Butterbeer, the frozen one, and the hot one which just became available very recently. Abbie and I always get the frozen version because it is so soothing after the long walks to and through The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It has become a #BestieTimes ritual to have at least a couple mugs of Butterbeer each time we visit the magic, and we collect the mugs every single time too! We always buy one mug (it is a really good size!) and share it so that we have room left for food and/or ice cream!

Imagine a slushy sweet drink with a Butterscotch-like foam floating over the top. Now imagine two food-loving crazy Potterhead sisters sipping it away, the chilled goodness progressing down our throats after setting a series of magical reactions on our tongues and inside our mouths ... (I think I need a bucket to prevent a drool flood over here!)

This mug full of magic is actually available at various places throughout the two parks. Obviously, a Potterhead can feel the sudden urge to sip some Butterbeer at any point of their visit there, so there has to be more than just one place to avoid a crazy long queue!

At Hogsmeade it is an absolute joy to see the large barrels of Butterbeer randomly parked in the middle of the alley. The lines for this Butterbeer spot are usually long but they are very quick! Abbie and I have enjoyed standing at this spot, clicking away fabulous photos, as we waited to purchase our wonderful drinks many times now.

Butterbeer is also available in the restaurants at both the parks; The Three Broomsticks and The Hogs Head at Hogsmeade and The Leaky Cauldron at Diagon Alley. I'm sure it must be a great joy to have Butterbeer with your food, but because Abbie and I can't wait for lunch or dinner time we always end up taking our dose of Butterbeer way before we hit the restaurants.

At Diagon Alley they even have a new Butterbeer shop, The Fountain of Fair Fortune! A Butterbeer barrel hangs above the entrance to welcome you into a really cool place! You meet a good splurge of brown color in your face as you enter and your eyes fall upon the large Butterbeer barrels behind the servers!

The Fountain of Fair Fortune from the inside

The first time we visited Diagon Alley (which had opened last Summer) Abbie and I were keen on checking out every single corner, so it was an absolute must to visit The Fountain of Fair Fortune from inside to purchase the first Butterbeer of our Grad Trip 2014-15! Once we had it in our hands we simply went crazy! But of course it is just not done right if you don't make your Butterbeer mustache!

Saraallie's Butterbeer stache 2014-15 (I do this each time I visit!)

When I said Abbie and I collect the mugs I meant all the various kinds, because there are three! You can either get the original beer mug from Hogsmeade, or the new added base version of the same beer mug at Diagon Alley, or you could get the plastic cup version. All the kinds can be seen in the pictures above! Ob-viously (read this in Snape tone) Abbie and I have at least one of each kind of mug in our collections and we both maintain separate collections so that is two of each mug under the same roof. Imagine all the Butterbeer we must have had in the past few years!
I think we are totally ready for another mug of frozen Butterbeer .. who's booking the tickets?

  5. I love Butterbeer, but a little goes a long way (for me). The Harry Potter World was our favorite part of visiting Orlando!!!! Do you have the whole outfit (school uniform, wand, robe, scarf, etc.)? My daughter has it all! Great fun! This is one of the best A to Z posts for "B" that I've seen so far! Keep up the good work!

    1. Yeah, Butterbeer can be heavy at times which is why Abbie and I share it. If we don't share the drink we'd have no space left in our stomachs for anything. We might not even be able to walk, haha!
I do not have the whole outfit *sighs* but what Abbie and I do is wear our Harry Potter fan accessories so that we have a lot of Potter stuff on. (You've given me a brilliant idea to blog about, by the way!)
I'm sure your daughter looks fantastic wearing the whole outfit! Wow wow wow!!!

Thank you! I am so glad you loved my post :D

  6. I tried Butterbeer at the Warner Brothers Studio Tour in London and it was amazing! I really fancy one now after reading this. I've got two of the plastic cups. I'd love to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter if I ever get a chance to go to the US!

    1. Aaaah! I totally have to travel to London to visit the studios before I die, haha! That is one place I haven't visited.
If you ever visit the parks in the US get the souvenir mug! It is really cool as a decoration at home!
