Be good to myself
There is so much good I can do to myself and for myself but I don't because I'm too busy prioritizing other things or people above my own self. This year I resolve to be good to myself. I resolve to reasonably assign myself high priority status so that I can be good to myself. When I mention being good I mean it in very broad terms. This includes a gesture as little as spending that extra time before going to bed to moisturize my skin to a lifestyle change as big as working to become more confident and regaining control over my personality. The neglect I've shown towards myself in the past few years has had some major impact on my thinking and beliefs towards my self and this year I wish to start changing that.
Do more of what makes me happy
Anything that makes me happy I must do more of. I mean baking, blogging, reading, eating good food, having good conversations, watching a good TV show, crafting away, shopping, cooking, and the list goes on and on ... The idea is to keep myself happy because the keys to my happiness should lie in my own hands, dangling from a fancy-shmancy-glittery key chain. They shouldn't be relying on other people and their actions.
I have a lot to achieve with Sara's Baked Creations and I resolve to bake more and learn more this year. I have a lot of crafting projects pending including finishing my room's makeover, starting the laundry makeover, starting my scrapbook again, pinboard decorations, and etc. I've already been watching Gossip Girl (instant bliss!) and shopping my heart out (on some fab stuff I'll show off here soon!). There are so many recipes out there I wish to try, so many memories to make with my bestie Abbie. This year should be the year I keep myself happy!
Blog my heart out
The best thing I did last year online was to reconnect with my blog in full and true meaning. This has become a big part of my life and a huge chunk of my happiness and hobbies. I have a lot of blogging plans this year as well. In fact Abbie and I were recently going all gaga planning our blogs for this year. I'll be writing more of my 'I Love Myself' series, Wacky Finds will continue wacking the days away, and some new projects are on my mind too. The idea is to be regular with blogging, blogging about anything and everything to my heart's desire, and keeping the love of blogging alive!
Spiritual Enlightenment
My religious achievements are a topic that I usually don't blog about because unlike achievements in the baking field and etc., I feel my spiritual self is something very personal; other people aren't and shouldn't be interfering in it. I mean it's supposed to be a private relationship between me and God. So I won't be blabbering on about my plans in detail but I do wish to resolve that I'll connect strongly with my beliefs this year. I want to know more about my faith and become more thorough with prayers this year.
Break a bad habit
I find it is useless to deny that we all have our bad habits. I am not perfect and I have a lot of personality traits or behaviors that I would like to change to become a better person. While I will be all privy about what my bad habits are I will admit to them and resolve to break out of at least a few this year.
Collect good deeds
I am resolving to do good to myself this year so I do want to resolve the same about others around me. I've been meaning to do something good, some pure gesture to make me feel good, some good deed that I can feel peaceful about. Somehow whenever I've tried making a grand gesture it couldn't be executed. So I am changing my approach this year and am instead going after smaller gestures. I don't know yet what these are but I do wish to collect a lot of good deeds for myself starting this year. I wish some of the grand gestures I've tried planning in the past can come true too. I know that when I will do good to others it will come back to me and reinforce the resolutions of 'doing good to myself' and 'being happy'.
Keep away from negativity
There is just so much negativity everywhere around me: negative people, negative thoughts, negative places, negative behaviors ... It has been pretty annoying and exhausting actually. I have always tried fighting negativity but when it advances on you from everywhere near and as far as your eyes can see I think it is better that I run away from it. I am a human being and I fear I will too give in to negativity some day. That is the last thing I want to do. Therefore, this year I will keep away from negativity as much as I can so that what little unavoidable nonsense comes my way I have the strength to fight it off.
I love your goals for 2016, Sara. They're all positive and I'm sure will make your life more pleasurable and satisfying.
ReplyDeleteAs you collect your good deeds, have you thought of writing them in a notebook? I know I forget things if I don't write them down and it's always nice to be able to go back and read about the good deeds you or others have done. This is rape silly true if you're feeling down and you need a little pick-me-up. Give it a try. :-)
You've given a great idea about collecting my good deeds in a notebook! I'm not sure how regular I'll be at keeping it though! Haha! I was planning on starting a Happy Thoughts jar this month but I still haven't started with that! Hopefully I will soon!
DeleteThanks for the lovely comment! :)
NO! NO! NO! Not "rape silly"!! I want ESPECIALLY!! Sometimes auto-correct comes up with the craziest substitutions.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Auto correct is CRA-ZY! :D

Love this! At the beginning of every year, I like to make a bucket list for that year. Topics range from silly to positive things (like yours). I post them in a place where I can see them and then make it my mission to cross everything off the list. Sounds like you have quite the list for this year yourself! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteAn yearly Bucket List sounds like a great idea! I have one too but it's timeless instead of being annual.
DeleteHappy New Year to you too :) Hope you check off a LOT from that list this year!
