Spilling M&Ms Cake

Yes, that's cake.
Yes, the M&Ms are falling from the skies.
Yes, it's amazing.
Yes, I'm awesome!
(ahemmmmmmm, this is about the cake!!! Snap out of it!)

The Spilling M&Ms Cake was my first ever gravity defying creation. It looks like magic, so real, suspended mid air, yet not falling off and away. The secret magic trick is a stick stuck in the middle of the cake (Sshhhh, it's top secret!).

The good part about doing this cake was the extra packet of M&Ms I bought (and then devoured with Abbie as an added benefit). Any extra candy is a good thing, right? Right!
I attached the empty M&Ms pack on top of the magic stick. I'd stuffed it so it looked full and real. Then I attached M&Ms throughout the stick, all the way down to the cake. Imagine if M&Ms fell in your mouth like that for real .... okay, drooling.

I made the base of the cake a Kit Kat basket. The M&ms were falling into a Kit Kat basket.
Good Lord could there be more candy and chocolate on a cake!!??
I could totally fall into a Kit Kat basket.
Totally.
OMG.

Of course, I can't tie perfect ribbon bows if my life depended on it, so that's where mama the awesome stepped in to help out! She tied the bow around my cake which finished it in perfect style!

Doesn't that look absolutely gorjabulous? It really did look like M&Ms were pouring onto the cake and ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my let's not even go near those Kit Kats standing tall and handsome in all their glory, looking at me, calling at me to EAT them ALLLLLL!

This cake was superbly special because it celebrated three birthdays.
Yes, you heard me right.
That's what happens when the entire family decides to be born around the same time.
The cake was baked for and cut on my mama's birthday but also celebrated SIL's because she's born a day after mama.

Are you wondering about the third person who celebrated their birthday with this cake?

That's right. Po Teddy celebrated his birthday with this cake too!
He's my five foot tall teddy buddy in case you wonder! *laughs*

The insides were my absolute favorite vanilla sponge and to-die-for chocolate frosting. When the cake was cut each slice was a piece of heaven; Kit Kats, chocolate frosting, vanilla sponge exploding with flavors in my mouth, and M&Ms overload. Mmmmmm mmmmm!

Look at how magical that looks!
Ah, perfection!

  1. I've seen cakes with the KitKats around the outside before. The M&Ms are a cute idea.

  3. When I saw the picture of your cake, I honestly thought you'd photoshopped the falling M&M's! I've never seen such a fantastic idea. You rock, Sara.
