I am a snow lover and that is no secret. As soon as Winter begins I wake up every morning praying and hoping and longing for snowfall. All I want is at least one major snow day when everything - EVERYTHING - turns white. I mean the all white everything kind of a snow day. That is my favorite! I'm a fantasy-loving person and when everything in front of me turns white it is nothing but the wonderland straight out of my fantastical imagination! I just love snow. The white, the peace, the fun, the brightness. When snow falls it feels like each snow flake falling from the sky is spreading happiness inside my heart. You know the kind of happiness you feel inside your heart ... inside the depths of your heart. Yep, that!
This year 2019 began with sickness. I just ended up getting all kinds of stuff! From an upset stomach from traveling, followed by a 103 fever, to full on flu-ish feels. I had to take antibiotics for that which ended up ruining my stomach even more and I was found in the washroom with diarrhea. So I was stuck inside the house with sickness until I got better. And then it snowed! The perfect snow day came and we all put on layers upon layers of clothing and stepped out on our snow covered deck.
It was breathtakingly beautiful. Our white fence, white deck railing, white gazebo, and the white snow combined and gave me my wonderland. It was exactly what I had wished for: all white everything! And it snowed a lot this time too by the way. It was very pretty and still snowing when we stepped out.
There were certain things very special about this snow day. First, it was our first snow day with Chunky. Second, it was the first snowfall of 2019 and after the hectic year we had had last year everything felt fresh and happy and double the fun. We enjoyed taking some selfies and pictures first. Of course we posed with Chunky who had turned into a snow ball once she was dressed for the snow and her cheeks had become even more edible after becoming cold. She's a no fuss baby and when we made her sit on the snow she loved it. Always my little smiley face, that one! *insert a million hearts* Next we grabbed Gubby to have fun. I made footprints in the untouched snow with her, she made snow angels, and we had snowball fights! *laughs* It was really fun!
Then it was finally time for us to make our snowmen. Gubby's mama helped her build one. I found a brilliant spot in one of the corners where I knew we got the least sunlight, which had a HUGE pile of untouched snow, and which could be seen if you peeked out of our living room's window. I told Gubby to get that spot for her snowman and she loved the idea. Abbie and I always find a higher raised platform to build our snowmen; less bending means our backs don't hurt in the freezing cold and we make smaller snowmen so it is ideal for us. Usually it used to be our brother's car on top of which we made our snowmen but this time we had our dining table on the deck to be our snowman spot. It had gathered LOTS of snow and could also be seen from inside our living room. Perfect!
Now, this year we had a plan. We had decided that we'd make Harry Potter themed snowmen and we had come prepared with our Gryffindor scarves and a wand. Let me tell you, our snowmen were BRILLIANT! So without further ado, I present Luna the Gryffindor snow girl and Queenie the Turkish inspired snow woman!
Of course Luna was by me and Queenie by Abbie. Abbie hadn't planned on making Queenie Turkish inspired but once she added the coffee cup as the hat it just somehow happened. *laughs* I forgot my wand inside so we only had one of Abbie's to take pictures with. We ended up giving Luna and Queenie the wand in turns so they could pose for the camera. But anyhoo, aren't they awesome? I think they looked brilliant. Coolest snowmen for sure! Somehow my snow people always end up being chubby looking! Hahaha! This time Luna looked like she had cheeks and chin and all. She was so adorable!
*Sighs* What a wonderful snow day I had. We had so much fun that we were super tired when we finally went back inside the house. We were also pretty frozen from head to toe. Since we decided to dive face front into the snow (Abbie's idea which by the way was FAB!) our faces were frozen too. We warmed up with fresh and steaming hot Masala French Fries ... mmmm mmmmmm! A cozy Chai session followed and I spent the rest of my day loving watching the snow and our snow people from the windows.
2019 definitely started right and the rest of the months have some serious living up to do thanks to how nice January and its brilliant snow day was to me. I had had fun, got exactly what I wanted, and made beautiful snowy memories with my favorites Abbie, Gubby, and Chunky! Some people really are worth melting for and in my case they are these three folks!
