Woohoooooooo! Yeahhhhh uh! OCTONOVEMBER has begun!!! The birthday season, the gorgeous season of Fall, MY season, THE season. I love it! I love birthdays, I love Fall, I love cooler weather, and I just LOVE this time of the year! My heart becomes happier as soon as October begins and it continues somewhat allllllll the way through to the new year! This is just my most favorite time everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and I think I've said it wayyyy too many times before as well but I'm going to say it again: OCTONOVEMBER is my favorite.
This year, I couldn't blog through the first half of October but I'm here to catch up now! OH WOW, what a fabulous month October has been so far. We've had the start of the gorgeous Fall season and the trees in my backyard have already turned a beautiful shade of red. When I stepped outside yesterday the winds that greeted me were chilly and foretelling some seriously awesome cool days ahead. It felt so good to feel the chill against my skin. It's been hot lately (in both a literal and a sarcastically philosophical kind of way) and I have waited so so so so bad for some chill and some cooling down. I needed it - the world needed it ... and it's finally beginning! Now I'll just sit back and relax and watch the outsides change from greens to oranges and mustards and reds and yellows! Fall is stunning and it breathes fresh life into me! *sighs*
With the start of Fall and October we've also had the start of our birthday season! On the first of October, Po turned nine years old! Hahahahaha! On the fourth we celebrated mama's birthday and SIL's on the fifth. This month our dear darling Chunky also celebrated as she turned one and a half years old! Oh yes, we celebrate an year and a half's birthday too! I was seen in the kitchen baking and caking away as the birthdays rolled. And what BEAUTIFUL cakes I created this year!!! I think I definitely outdid myself. But before I get to those cakes, let me first show off the deliciousness I devoured in October.
This year Abbie blessed my life with a Fall Apple Spiced Bundt cake which was filled with cream cheese and which marked my SIL's birthday celebrations and the start of the beautiful season of Fall. Oh my God this was just fantastic! She used Granny Smith apples and spices and what not to bake up a super moist bundt cake which was filled with cream cheese. Then she glazed it with some divine rich chocolate glaze and then sprinkled some crushed Creme Brulee almonds and pecans and I swear it was just sooooooooooooooooooo good I couldn't stop eating and eating and eating. The cream cheese with the apples and the chocolate glaze and the nuts .... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Heaven. I'm sure they are serving this on the menu in Heaven. Definitely.
SO GOOD.
And now, I'll show off my cakes!
Ta daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! World, check these out! The Love Grows Here - Flower Pot Cake and Chunkella - the Cake Monster! The flower pot was for mama and Chunkella was inspired by Chunky! Hahahahaha! I kid you not, this cake monster was totally Chunky! The expression, the vibe, that wild naughtiness in her eye ... CHUNKY in cake monster form.
I do plan on showing off these cakes in excessive, obsessive, mad kind of details later so I'll skip the close ups for now but let me explain why each cake was so special for the birthday girl it was made for. This year mama had a gardening mishap and every single kind of flower she planted attracted an insane load of pesky bugs. We had wasps and bees and hornets and aliens attacking us every single time we stepped out. It got bad because they decided to make our deck their permanent abode (and they weren't even paying rent) and when things got toooooooo out of hand mama was left with no choice but to have all her flowers removed. So I decided to make her a flower pot - one that would DEFINITELY not attract bugs! Oh and Chunkella was totally inspired by Chunky. This is truly what Chunky is like! Hahahahaha! The monster's holding a sign that says, "Baa Lalaa!!" Chunky is crazy in love with watermelons and she calls them Baa Lalaa. So I decided to use Baa Lalaa as both a monster language gibberish kinda thing and a way to honor Chunky!
These cakes were so much fun to make! They broke my back and neck and wrists and everything else possible because I did these back to back and was working on them for like five-ish days continuously. However, when they were done it was all worth it! I got brilliant reactions from the nieces for both the cakes. Chunky decided she loved Chunkella and shook hands with her! Hahahahaha! Mission accomplished. I made the gorgeous cakes, I stunned everybody, I spread the smiles all around, and I fed everyone deliciousness. What fun!
Now, it is finally time for THE event of the year - MY BIRTHDAY!!! I cannot wait! I'm so excited to see what Abbie does this year on my fantabulous day! I know it will be super duper mega awesome because she is the best sister in the universe!!! I turn twenty eight this year ... wow! So many thoughts, so many feelings, so much excitement!!! CAN IT JUST PLEASE BE MY BIRTHDAY ALREADY?
