It is true that I love decorating colorful and bright cakes that have a story behind them. It is true that when a cake has a specific theme and a design (like my Baby On Board or Hippity Hoppity Bunny Bum Cake) I have a lot of fun baking and decorating. Though sometimes an overload of chocolate and a classic cake decor does wonders that nothing else can do.
Before I begin with this cake I feel that it is my duty to warn the world of what follows.
Beware for beyond this point in this entry are pictures with an excess of chocolate.
Viewing these pictures may cause intense drooling sensations and seriously strong cravings.
As the pictures above prove, this cake was heavily loaded with chocolate. A rich and moist chocolate cake was used as this cake's sponge. The stacking of this cake was in the following order (bottom to top): moist chocolate sponge, vanilla buttercream, Oreo cookie halves, moist chocolate sponge, vanilla buttercream, Oreo cookie chunks, moist chocolate cake, vanilla buttercream, Oreo cookies chopped, moist chocolate cake. The cake was then covered in a delicious cookies and cream frosting and then decorated to perfection ...
I need a moment to collect myself ...
Even remembering this much chocolate is making me crazily hungry ...
I glazed the top of this cake so that I'd have a smooth classy top to decorate with.
Then dollops of the cookies and cream frosting and whole Oreo cookies were added on top of that glaze. Are you drooling yet?
How about now?
Finally, chocolate chips at the base finished the chocolate explosion!
I baked this cake on my sister in law's birthday. She's a chocolate lover. Well, we all are, aren't we? But she's the blessed kind who gets to eat large servings of desserts and still doesn't gain weight. I on the other hand eat a bite and it seems like it adds to my body weight immediately (after multiplying a hundred times). When it's for people like her I get to go all out and make the most deadliest delicious overloaded cakes in the world! This one was just that. A deadly delicious overload. Every single bite of this cake was loaded with cookies and cream. Every inch a heavy dose of chocolate. Mmmmmmmmm mmmmmm!
Then ... that moment.
THE moment.
When the insides were revealed of this MIGHTY tall cake.
Moist chocolate, vanilla buttercream, Oreo cookies.
I think I'll leave the world with this picture.
I don't think words can possibly be used to explain it.
I have officially ran out of words (for a change!)
Oh, and I am totally craving chocolate right now thanks to this entry!
