Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! The fourth installment of the magical Potterverse. The Goblet of Fire holds its own importance in the series - I feel like this is where we dive into the whole Voldemort plot which ultimately leads us to the Horcruxes. This is the PLOT TWIST portion of the Harry Potter books in a way. The Goblet of Fire is packed with action, adventure, humor, more action and adventure, and very very long hair. Hahaha! Seriously, before I discuss anything else, I must point out the very long hair. I mean, what happened? Why was everybody roaming around with too much hair?! Hahaha! But even if I do push the hair out of my eyes, there is no doubt that GOF was magically eventful. There was love, hate, happiness, sadness, mind boggling adventure, mystery, fear, and death!
Just at the very beginning of the book I start having fun. The whole Quidditch World Cup was like going on a fun field trip with Harry, Hermione, and the Weasleys. Back in school, field trips used to feel extra special to me. I rarely got permission to go so when I did it was the funnest time I had with my friends. The entire Quidditch World Cup felt the same way. You know that whole thing where Harry was fascinated with the huge tents and the magic? I was just the same - fascinated and reading with my jaw dropping open every now and then. I just loved it!
THIS.
One of my favorite moments!
This was totally me when reading all of the World Cup stuff!
The Quidditch World Cup was super exciting at the very beginning of the book, and then came the Triwizard Tournament to add to that oomph! Exciting, adventurous, dangerous, and the mystery behind Harry's name being put in the Goblet of Fire. Oooooooooooooooooh. The Goblet of Fire definitely has allll the mysterious stuff happening! Oh and ... MOMENT OF THE MOVIE!!! Harry did ya put ya name in the Goblet of FIYYYAAAAAAAAHHHHH! Hahahahahahahahahahaha! I don't know if the movie Dumbledore made it worse by ruining the calm feel of book Dumbledore or if he did a great job by making this possibly the most hilarious bit of the entire movie! Hahahahahahaha! Definitely my favorite SUPER annoying moment from the entire movie! I mean, when did Dumbledore ever run!? Hahahahaha!
Another one of my most favorite moments from both the book and the movie is when Fred and George decide to be their super cool selves but end up turning old! Hahahahahaha! Classic! Love these two so much! They're the best!
The Triwizard Tournament also gave us the awesome Yule Ball! The Yule Ball was one of my favorite moments too! It was just so pretty to read in the books. I felt like I was there, a part of the Yule Ball, attending with everyone else. And every single bit that was related to the Yule Ball was just fantabulous, wasn't it? I particularly loved the decor and the outfits! SO SO BEAUTIFUL!!!
Also, Yule Ball gave us a brilliant Professor McGonagall moment! Hahahaha! Loved this scene so much and the way the twins teased Ron. So hilarious!
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!! This has to be the funniest moment of the entire book!
Special mention for all the growing up Harry and Ron did in Goblet of Fire! Hahahahaha! They were such hopeless dates. But I loved reading about their struggles just as much as their dates must have hated going to the Ball with them! And it was even more fun to watch in the movie! Especially Ron with his expressions!!!
The Goblet of Fire is also the book where we get introduced to our beloved Mad Eye Moody! I know, I know, it wasn't really him him. But still! I loved Mad Eye Moody - even his Barty Crouch Jr. self. It was real fun to watch him and his mad eye! How I would have loved to have a teacher like him when I was in school!
Finally, oh mannnnn that climax. Goblet of Fire's climax was just mind blowing. I actually got goosebumps ... no I was shaking, actually. The entire graveyard twist, death, torture, horror ... VERY SCARY! Definitely one of my most favorite moments! This is where Voldemort's threat hit me in the face full on. This is where he became real. This is where the darkness began. And the death - devastating - and yet so well written and so well done.
THIS QUOTE. This one! This is just so true!
*SLOW CLAPS* Dumbledore's quotes are the best! Everything he says is just phenomenal - it strikes somewhere deep inside the heart! This one is definitely one of my most favorite quotes!
You know, the Goblet of Fire is that book in the Harry Potter series which I can't say is my most favorite (POA takes that slot) but I love it for how much it gives me. My favorite thing about GOF is how it adds to the Wizarding World in that 'external' sense; there is much more than just Hogwarts and its regular schedule of classes. The World Cup introduces magical sports on a big global level and the entire Port Key and camping gives me the feels of traveling in the Wizarding World beyond Hogwarts. Then the Triwizard Tournament and its seriousness gives me competition and introduces the existence of various other schools of magic other than Hogwarts. We meet Moody, Rita Skeeter, Barty Crouch and his son, Winky (how I desperately wish they had kept her in the movies!). Speaking of Winky, we get to explore the kitchens at Hogwarts and see much more of Dobby living his free life. Then we meet and also say goodbye to Cedric and that gives us loss and death and tragedy and the sense of how brutal Voldemort is. This is where the Dark Lord really returns - where Harry's destiny starts acting up ...
WOW. If I think on it, Goblet of Fire may not be my most favorite book/movie, but it is definitely so so so important and full of such brilliance. If they could just tell me what happened with the hair .... *laughs*
