Spritz It Up ~ Classic Spritz Cookies

They're everywhere, literally, in every single bakery. Yet when I bake them at home they are anything but your common-bakery cookie. They're delicious, look great, bite sized, and immensely fun to make!

Let me be very clear ... I love making Spritz cookies. The cookie dough itself is super soft and smells of delicious buttery goodness. In addition to that the entire experience of using a cookie press, pressing out all the beautiful shapes, baking, (tasting), and then decorating them is super fun!

The first time I made the Spritz cookies I kept them classic and didn't do any coloring etc. with them. The entire using-a-cookie-press-for-the-first-time thing felt so much fun! Pop it all in a press and then go crazy with the many kinds of shapes you can press out. SO COOL! My favorite shape instantly became this gorgeous flower design (in the picture above)! I used chocolate chips to add the centers to my beautiful flowers and they looked gorgeous.

Since the first time, when I'd baked classics, I've baked and loved these delicious buttery Spritz Cookies many times. These were also part of our Ramadan favors bowl of 2015! To make them more traditional and to fit in with the lovely Ramadan theme I turned these cookies yellow and green. The yellow ones I sprinkled with some gorgeous orange sugar crystals too so they looked sparkly and beautiful!

The yellows and greens looked really beautiful! I was so in love with how absolutely vibrant the colors showed up! Usually colored cookie dough can lose some of its color when baked but these classic butter cookies were beautifully shaded and extremely stunning!

See how gorgeous the sugar crystals looked on the yellow ones!
My favorite part about the Spritz cookies is how a little bit of effort results in a BIG wow. All you do is sprinkle some sugar crystals or sprinkles on top and yet they come out of the oven looking stunning. I've even seen ideas all over the internet where a simple Spritz cookie was just dipped in chocolate and tadaaaaa ... beautiful! I have yet to try that and I am SO excited for it!

Pink Spritz flowers!
THEY LOOK SO GIRLY AND SO PRETTY!
All the more reasons to love these delicious cookies!

When my darling niece Gubby was born, pink flower shaped Spritz were part of the party favors we gave out at Gubby's welcome party! The recipe used for Spritz cookies yields dozens of cookies in one go. By dozens I'm talking like a hundred ... not even kidding! You know what that means? These are brilliant as favors! They're small and you can stuff them in any kind of favor box and because a recipe yields so many cookies in one go you can actually cover a party with lots of guests too without any worries of running out.

The Classic Spritz cookies taste intensely buttery and are the melt-in-your-mouth kind of goodness. Pick one up and you'd feel the lightness in your hand. Bite into one and your teeth will sink into the soft cookie, the cookie will spread a warm and buttery-vanilla feel inside your mouth, and you'll be in bliss. Delicious, delicious, delicious! I can't wait to bake some more Spritz cookies!

I adore spritz cookies, I especially love the colorful ones you made for Ramadan. I have the machine and I haven't made them before, but I think I'll try now that I see how adorable they are. :)

    1. Thank youuuuuuuuuu so so much for all the love Jerneja! It really means the world to me! :D
You should totally try the Spritz cookies in your cookie press - the cookie press will be so much fun you'd want to do it again and again! Just make sure you chill your empty cookie sheets before pressing the cookies onto them otherwise they won't stick on it and you'll end up hating the press :D
